This photograph was taken on my cameraphone, and then enhanced a little to bring out the detail. It was a dreadful day, and my girlfriend and I decided to go play on the beach (yes… I know … we’re both crazy). Aside from a huge wave dumping on us – and we squelched back to the car at that point), we had a fabulous hour!

The black mass in the background you can see is the burnt-out shell of Hove’s West Pier (photo taken on a slightly better day).

It was once one of the grand icons of Sussex. Now, following the devastating fire, it literally is a shell of its former self. This was taken whilst standing on Brighton Pier.

After a particularly cruel winter (the coldest on record for the United Kingdom, I believe), it was warming to see the first proper sunset of the new year. Up on a very high rooftop, I steadied myself and set up my equipment, only to realise I’d left my filter set at home. This was a bit of a disappointment, but nonetheless armed with a UV filter and some time to tinker as the sun faded, I managed to snap this one.

Personally, I welcome the sun to 2011. You’ve been sorely missed.

This little guy was at the SaboTaj protest on the 24th February. Ostensibly I attended to take photographs of the protest (and did), but I couldn’t resist the perfect timing of the expression on this guys face.

OK, as it turned out, there didn’t appear to be any fire. But it was the most police officers I’d seen in a while in one place.

Personally I’m not generally one to like graffiti, but this piece of work I actually find stunning. Taken in the morning dawn not long after the sun came up, on my way home from work this morning. The colours seemed to really beam out. In the background is one of the many new apartment blocks that have sprung up in the area of late, although which one it is I’m not quite sure!

A bit of a silly one, but I liked it.

I went wandering for miles, and I’m not entirely certain where I ended up actually, so I can’t be specific on the location of this! I believe however, it’s a TV transmitter. Anyone feel free to correct me or give a better location if you recognise it.
